Job summary

We have an opportunity to join one of London's Leading NHS providers of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. We offer the opportunity and support to develop as a leader and physiotherapist within an NHS MSK physiotherapy team.

We are an innovative team with a strong track record of staff development & great support, led by an established team of band 8a, band 7 and Extended Scope Physiotherapists/APP's.

You will play a key role in the day to day clinical leadership of the department.

  • Comprehensive 8a ESP support and supervision

The Homerton's award winning MSK teams consists of:

  • GP & Consultant referred outpatient services
  • First Contact Physiotherapy services
  • Homerton Healthcare & community outpatient locations
  • Post-orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation, sports medicine, pelvic health, ESP/APP, MSK ultrasonography, non-medical prescribers, virtual fracture & persistent pain clinics.
  • Close working relationships with radiology, rheumatology, orthopaedics, podiatry & emergency medicine

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Act as highly specialist practitioner in field of musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain across various health care sites in line with service requirements.
  • Assist service managers in day-to-day clinical management of Physiotherapy for outpatients in Locomotor service sites and GP practices.
  • Participate and carry out audit / quality improvement projects within Locomotor service and members of the primary and secondary care MDT.
  • Provide highly specialist training, advice and education to physiotherapists inLocomotor service.
  • To appropriately screen referrals to Locomotor service
  • Deliver programmes of supported patient self-management, in ways that facilitate behavioural change, optimise individuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence, and that minimise the need to refer on for pharmacological interventions.
  • Following completion of relevant training, progress and request investigations to facilitate diagnosis and choice of treatment regime, understanding the information limitations derived from these and the relative sensitivity and specificity of particular imaging services. Interpret and act on results to aid diagnosis and develop the management plans of patients, seeking advice from Advanced Practice Physiotherapists or GPs as required.
