Job summary

We are excited to announce there is an opportunity for a Healthcare support worker to join the Outpatient Department in the heart of East London.

We are looking for a Healthcare support worker to work as part of the nursing team to provide high quality Emergency care for patients. Our nurses should be safe, competent and confident in performing a wide variety of activities indirectly supervised by a registered nurse. We are looking for enthusiastic, confident and self-motivated nurses who possess excellent communication skills and enjoy a challenge.

You will be supported by a dedicated team of practice development nurses, senior nurses and a strong education ethos. We will deliver a key career pathway and emergency nursing specialty training in order to give you grounding in your career.

Main duties of the job

Maintain a safe and clean environment in line with infection control and risk policies.

Assist in the preparation and examination of patients and the accurate collection, storage and processing of specimens.

Demonstrate knowledge of care procedures and clinical observations that are consistent with NVQ level 3 or equivalent.

Deal with enquires / concerns / complaints from patients and visitors in a courteous, timely and relevant manner, informing a senior a member of staff of actions taken or when necessary referring the enquiry to a more appropriate member of staff.

Provide care with due regard and respect to the patients customs, culture and preferences.

Perform pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and phlebotomy, recording and reporting competently.

Record and monitors vital signs, recognises abnormalities and knows when to report findings to the appropriate senior member of staff.

To assist with the orientation and induction of new members of staff.

Operate within Trust policies, procedures and standards.

To be supportive and co-operative with team members.

Act in accordance with the Trust Code of Behaviour
