Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly multidisciplinary team at the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at Homerton Hospital (RNRU). We welcome applications from candidates from minority ethnic backgrounds to improve our representation of communities that we serve.

The RNRU service provides specialist level 1B neurorehabilitation to people with severe and complex brain injury from northeast London and southeast England. The service is based in a 27-bedded inpatient unit on the Homerton Hospital site in Hackney, London.

This maternity cover offers a rare opportunity to join the team at a highly specialist level, including providing supervision to SLT colleagues and participating in leading objective swallowing assessment clinics. You will be supervised by the band 8a SLT Lead on the team, Alex Henson.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will have the opportunity to further develop clinical skill in specialist specialist intensive neuro-rehabilitation. The caseload includes working with people with a full range of neurological communication and dysphagia presentations, including those with behavioural needs.

The post-holder will manage a specialist speech and language therapy caseload as an autonomous practitioner, as well as providing clinical supervision for junior colleagues. Full details of the job are detailed in the attached job description and person specification.

Desirable
