Job summary

Clinical Support Worker - A&E and Acute Care UnitLocation: Homerton University Hospital | Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

We welcome applications from enthusiastic, caring, and motivated individuals new to healthcare. Positions are available in A&E and the Acute Care Unit (ACU), where you'll support Registered Nurses and the wider team in delivering high-quality patient care.

Banding & Care Certificate:

  • To be appointed at Band 3, you must hold a valid NHS Care Certificate at the time of starting.
  • If you do not hold this, you will start at Band 2 and must complete the Care Certificate within the first six months of employment. Progression to Band 3 may then be considered.

Visa Sponsorship:

  • Band 3 roles are eligible for Health and Care visa sponsorship.
  • Band 2 roles are not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants for Band 2 must have unrestricted right to work in the UK.
  • The Trust cannot provide sponsorship for Band 2 roles due to government guidelines.

Main duties of the job

A&E:As a Clinical Support Worker in A&E, you will work in a fast-paced environment, assisting medical and nursing staff in delivering prompt, high-quality care. Duties include performing cardiovascular observations, ECGs, urinalysis, meeting basic patient care needs, and carrying out venepuncture and cannulation (if trained).

Acute Care Unit (ACU):ACU is a busy admissions unit where patients stay for 24-48 hours. You will assist with initial assessments for new admissions from A&E, including vital signs, height, weight, and skin integrity checks. You will also support basic patient care and help transfer patients to other wards to maintain patient flow. Skills in phlebotomy and cannulation are highly beneficial.
