Experience

Essential

• Extensive post qualification experience in CAMHS
• Line management and supervision of Clinical Psychologists and or other mental health professionals
• Clinical supervision of band 7 staff
• Extensive experience working as a Qualified Clinical Psychologist or mental health professional working with children and families or related service areas
• Broad and varied experience of working closely with the voluntary sector and community
• Substantial experience in teaching and training
• Experience of working with multi-ethnic populations and with interpreters

Desirable

• Developed collaborative MDT working practices.
• Multi agency service development experience
• Experience of group work (e.g. parenting).
• Project management experience
• Evaluation of projects, data and outcomes to inform service and pathway development

Education

Essential

• Doctorate in Clinical or Councelling Psychology. Honours degree. Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or counselling Psychology(or its equivalent for those clinical Psychologists trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS. or Statement of Equivalence in Clinical Psychology (approved by the British Psychological Society)
• Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy. Honours degree. Postgraduate Diploma / MA in Psychoanalytical Observational Studies or recognised equivalent. Masters in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy: Child & Adolescent. Family & Systemic Psychotherapy. Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession such as Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Nursing or Counselling. Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy or AFT agreed equivalent Nursing. Registered Mental Health or LD Nurse (Part 3/8/13 or 15 of the NMC Register) ENB 998 or equivalent Educated to master degree level in CAMHS related area Evidence of CPD All applicants to have a ? Chartered Clinical Psychologist status. ? Relevant postqualification training (e.g. systemic family therapy, CBT, management) ? Publications in peer reviewed journals ? Completed further training in teaching and supervision ? Further training in one specific therapy eg systemic therapy, CBT. AF/I minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the NHS

Desirable

• Chartered Clinical Psychologist status
• Relevant postqualification training (e.g. systemic family therapy, CBT, management)
• Publications in peer reviewed journals
• Completed further training in teaching and supervision
• Further training in one specific therapy eg systemic therapy, CBT.

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

• High level communication and facilitation skills with regards to clients (children, young people and parents with multi - ethnic and diverse needs) and professionals - ability to tailor information to a range of levels
• Able to use specialist skills of empathy to overcome barriers to understanding and acceptance
• Skills of assessment of complex clinical and staff situations
• Able to compare and select from a range of options for intervention, based on formulation
• High-level analytical skills with regards to the processing of complex information
• Skills of negotiation
• Competent use of IT packages, e.g. PowerPoint, Excel

Desirable

• Fluent in an additional language widely used by the local community
• Service and staff management skills
• Advanced IT skills.

Knowledge

Essential

• Ability to draw upon broad knowledge of psychological theory and practice
• Able to draw upon a broad theoretical knowledge base in the analysis of highly complex facts or situations, to arrive at appropriate formulations
• Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to mental health of children, young people and their families
• A high level of knowledge of the factors affecting the psychological and social well-being of children and young people
• Doctoral (or equivalent) level of knowledge in research design and methodology, including statistical analysis.
• Additional relevant clinical and/or managerial knowledge ? Awareness of healthcare and social issues within inner city areas ? Familiarity with clinical working with ethnic groups. AF/I and skills acquired through formal training, long or short courses, formal supervision (individual and/or group), structured selfstudy, or experience - or a combination of these - to an appropriate level approved by the Head of CAMHS and demonstrated by certification, documented supervision logs, management appraisal documentation and/or assessment at interview.
