Job summary
ACU is a 35 bedded acute admissions ward, accepting medical, surgical, gynaecological and orthopaedic admissions directly from the Emergency Department.

We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic and flexible nurses to join our Acute Care Unit. This is a fast paced unit so you'll need to be constantly on the ball, but it's an exciting opportunity to gain management experience and clinical knowledge in a wide variety of disciplines.
The post holder is responsible for acting as a deputy to the sister/charge nurse in ensuring that patients receive the highest possible standards of care.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will need to be expertise in your clinical knowledge and skills, experienced in coordinating the Unit. Evidence of organisational ability, leadership potential, conflict resolution as well as a commitment to teaching and facilitating training is essential.
Key Duties:
Liaise and act as key point of contact with other clinical areas.
Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and in collaboration with the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
Provide a leadership and supervisory role in the day to day running of the clinical area, supporting nursing team and the MDT in providing excellence in care.
Co-ordinate care delivery, e.g. allocations of named nurse, ensuring continuity of care.Being a visible point of contact for staff acting as a resource for problems and deteriorating patients.
Manage clinical emergencies, ensuring that he/she is up to date with CPR training, act as a clinical expert and provide support to junior staff.
Respond to enquiries/ concerns/complaints from patients and visitors in a courteous, timely and relevant manner
Deputise for the ward sister/charge nurse during periods of absence and ensuring standards and mission of the unit are maintained.
