Are you wanting a new, innovative and incredibly exciting role providing vocational rehabilitation occupational therapy in a primary care network?
This 12 month fixed term contract (maternity leave cover) is based on the original RCOT pilot, working within primary care to support individuals with common musculo-skeletal and mental health conditions to return to and prevent time away from work.
We are looking for an experienced occupational therapist to work 0.8wte across 5 GP practices (Maternity leave cover for <12 months) to provide vocational rehabilitation advice and signposting, assessment and intervention to support individuals to return to or maintain their work role; and advice and signposting for those wishing to return to employment.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties are as follows:
- To autonomously utilise clinical practice knowledge and skills to provide specialist vocational assessment and rehabilitation for patients with common mental health disorders and musculo-skeletal problems and occupational therapy assessment and intervention to the Primary Care Network (PCN) agreed population.
- Working at an advanced level within the four pillars of practice: Clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research.
- To evidence high levels of problem solving, clinical reasoning and exercise independence of judgement to assess treat and manage own caseload of vocational rehab within the PCN.
- Reviewing processes to optimise service flow, outcome measurement and present data on the developing role within the PCN.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient -facing role, using their highly specialist knowledge of the impact of physical, social, psychological, and environmental and mental health issues on functional independence and vocation impacting an individual's ability to maintain work, and independence.
- Acting specialist resource in providing planned and spontaneous clinical advice and guidance, instruction and teaching for patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring a consistent approach to patient care
