Job summary

We are looking for two proactive, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to help deliver the Trust's Outpatient Transformation initiatives and service improvements. This is a high profile role and will include responsibility for Outpatient Transformation projects alongside leading other improvement programmes.

You'll work closely with clinical, administrative and operational leads across the Trust, working together to drive improvements. The role will involve using data, change management and improvement science methods to implement positive changes in how we deliver our services. You will be able to quantify and demonstrate improvements in performance and have experience in working with clinical and operational teams to implement and embed sustainable change.If you're passionate about making a real impact, this is the role for you!

You will lead on a number of major work programmes and will ensure robust management, co-ordination and monitoring of these.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To be responsible for the successful delivery of a range of Trust-wide and ad hoc improvement schemes.
  • To work with clinical, administrative and operational leads across the Trust to lead transformation projects and drive service improvements.
  • To identify potential opportunities to improve efficiency, performance or income generation using examples of best practice from other organisations
  • To be accountable for the successful tracking of the work programmes they are responsible for and to escalate risks in a timely manner to enable delivery to stay on track.

Service Improvement Projects

Lead on Trust-wide transformation and improvement projects identified and agreed by the Outpatient Transformation Oversight Group.

Present and provide summary updates using relevant data to the monthly Outpatient Transformation Oversight Group.

Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative teams across the Trust to identify improvement opportunities within specialties and develop ideas to address an identified issue.

Apply recognised improvement methodology and change management techniques including PDSA tests for change, stakeholder analysis, driver diagrams, and process mapping.

Develop and maintain robust project and implementation plans, detailing the actions required to meet project goals.

Maintain close oversight of work programmes and escalate risks to ensure delivery stays on track.

Ensure timescales and deliverables for projects are realistic and incorporate all necessary steps of the project, including responsibility for actions and progress of each action.

Develop a communication plan to support the successful implremntation of service improvements. This should include internal and external stakeholders, the information required by each person, and the timeliness of communication, to ensure smooth implementation of any changes.

Engage with senior managers and clinicians on proposed changes associated with individual programmes of work, negotiating and persuading where necessary to ensure long term engagement with the changes required, providing appropriate challenge and innovation whilst maintaining clinical engagement and ownership.

Make recommendations to the Outpatient Transformation Oversight Group and senior decision-making forums regarding proposed schemes.

Produce high quality written reports, presentations and summary updates providing information at the appropriate level of detail relevant to the audience.

Identify efficiency and performance improvement opportunities through external case studies and engaging with others on the NHS Futures platform and attending relevant conferences.

Provide teaching for clinical, administrative and operational colleagues during the implementation of new processes.

Provide administrative support for meetings, including deputising for the Head of Outpatient Transformation as needed.

Support Outpatient Transformation Clinical Leads in project delivery.

Manage time effectively, ensuring successful delivery of Trust-wide and ad hoc improvement schemes, tracking work programmes, and escalating risks when needed.

Data and analysis

Identify potential opportunities to improve efficiency, performance or income generation using examples of best practice from other organisations and through benchmarking.

Set up data collection and monitoring processes with clinical and administrative teams, ensuring data can demonstrate the relevant changes as a result of improvement projects.

Identify data requirements and work with the information team to understand the availability of metrics to track progress of improvement projects.

Use analytical skills to interpret complex information from a wide range of sources, using charts, graphs and relevant graphics to display data and analysis clearly in an appropriate format for the target audience.

Monitor progress of projects through development of reports and dashboards with the information team. Provide regular updates to the Head of Outpatient Transformation and Associsate Director of Performance.

Utilise research methods to design and implement patient surveys and questionnaires.

Use run charts and statistical analysis to understand data trends. Highlight and investigate any special cause variation or areas where changes or improvements are required.

Work with the information team to develop dashboards and information reports to measure the impact and monitor improvement projects.
