An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Psychotherapist to join the Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia service as part of the health and well being team. We are a forward thinking, passionate team supporting children and adults with long term medical conditions and their families. This is a part-time role.
If you are motivated and enthusiastic to work with complex long term medical conditions within the context of sickle cell & thalassaemia disorders, within an outstanding NHS organisation, this is an ideal position to apply for.
The post holder will be required to provide support, MDT and group interventions, duty and initial assessments and brief, focused interventions. Systemic and relational models form the basis for our work, alongside behavioural techniques and a variety of specialist, evidence based approaches.
Referrals are diverse, reflecting our local diverse community which we are proud to serve.
Training and CPD are an integral part of our service and offered to all staff, as is regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and Trust Policy.

Main duties of the job
- Offer regular therapeutic assessment slots for patients within the city & hackney service remit
- Deliver individualised and group therapeutic interventions
- Screening of all referrals for urgency and eligibility to the service, and providing a timely response to incoming enquiries.
- Build relationships with clinicians, administrators and MDT colleagues within sickle cell ~& thalassaemia services and staff in settings across the borough.
- Prepare and carry out clinical work both autonomously and within the context of joint work and a multidisciplinary/multi-agency team, including individual caseload management, joint clinics with consultant/lead nurse, group initiatives.
- Manage risk and safeguarding.
- Contribute ideas for service protocols and service development.
- Support service delivery in conjunction with psychological services to encompass a multi professional perspective in the context of multi-disciplinary working.
