Job summary
We are looking for a Band 8a Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (Extended Scope Physiotherapist) to join our Physiotherapy team and play a key role within our award-winning musculoskeletal NHS service.
You will join a well-established Advanced Practitioner MSK Team, who utilise, as well as teach, in areas of injection therapy, prescribing, ultrasound imaging, ultrasound guided and hydrodistension injections. The APP clinicians utilise peer sessions, multidisciplinary meetings (orthopaedics, rheumatology, spinal surgery), as well as structured teaching for clinical discussion and development.
You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload utilising advanced clinical reasoning and extended scope skills. Located within a physiotherapy team you will have daily face to face contact with Physiotherapists and our first contact Physiotherapists delivering day to day clinical mentorship and play a key part in teaching and development within the team.
As a comprehensive and integrated service the Locomotor team manages 96% of all outpatient MSK referrals within the borough of City & Hackney, bridging the management of MSK pathology across primary and secondary care. We have direct referral pathways from a large network of GPs and work closely in optimising these care pathways. We are integrated with the North East London secondary care specialities of spinal, rheumatology and orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job
We place a strong emphasis on staff support and development. You will have regular supervision from both a clinical and managerial perspective and opportunities to develop across the pillars of advanced practice.
The role will also include quality improvement work to optimise service delivery and patient care across our service. We are a proactive department in driving these areas forwards and have a well-established Quality Improvement Team that supports this invaluable aspect of our work. This role would suit a professional with motivation, flexibility and organisation skills to contribute and be responsive to development of the service in an evolving, diverse MSK landscape.
You will play a key role in supporting and mentoring Locomotor Physiotherapy staff.
