Job summary
These are three full-time clinical fellow posts working in the sexual health department at the Homerton Hospital. One of the posts job also involves rotating through the acute care unit managing acute admissions in blocks of 5 weeks.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for clinical care of outpatients attending the This involves the equivalent of 9 GU clinics and 1 CPD session per week. In GU clinics, care will involve obtaining medical and sexual histories, clinical examination, investigations, treatment and health education. The post holder will also be expected to take responsibility for the management of patients presenting for post and pre- exposure prophylaxis for HIV.
Each 5 week block working on the acute care unit will involve the management of acute admissions, working a shift system. This part of the role is well supported by a Consultant led team.
About us
The sexual health service is delivered across four sites in City and Hackney. The main hub is at the Clifden Centre which operates as a walk-in clinic for sexual health and contraception as well as delivering HIV care. The post-holder will also rotate around the satellite sites at the Ivy Clinic, St Leonard's Hospital, 80 Leadenhall Street in the City, and John Scott Health Centre. The post is well supported by a senior medical team, with advice and support available in all working hours. The multi-disciplinary team includes nurses and health advisers, with who the post-holder will work closely in delivering high quality, holistic care.
The post involves working evening clinics during the week on an approximately 1 in 6 basis and Saturdays as 1 in 8. Time off in lieu is given during the working week.
The post involving working in acute admissions attracts out of hours supplementary pay.
