Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic Pharmacy Technician to join our Sexual Health and Pharmacy team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be working closely with our HIV Specialist Pharmacists to ensure safe, accurate and timely supply and counselling of medication to our patients.
The Pharmacy Technician is an integral part of the HIV team and you will be integrated in the multidisciplinary team to develop the service.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
- To be familiar with HIV medicines as well as the Trust's general drug formulary, including doses, side effects and any other relevant information that may help when counselling patients.
- To provide counselling to HIV patients starting or changing anti-retroviral therapy.
- To liaise closely with technical staff in the purchasing department regarding any 'To Follow' items; to notify ward/directorate pharmacists and to be responsible for the supply of any owing medications.
- To be responsible for the filing of HIV prescriptions according to local procedures
