This post offers an exciting opportunity to develop experience and skills as a Medical/Nursing Educator.
You will support the Simulation and Clinical Skills Lead Specialist , to plan, implement, deliver and evaluate a quality training and educational programme of clinical skills/simulation for relevant multi-professional staff including post registration nurses, allied health professionals, health care assistants, medical students and foundation year doctors and other trainee doctors within the Trust.
The Trust is equipped with hi-fidelity manikins including a Laerdal Sim-Man 3G, Sim Junior, Sim-Baby and Sim-NewB. The suite also has high fidelity laparoscopic simulator , GI-Bronch and ultrasound simulators and Virtual reality facilities.
There is a busy calendar of post-graduate and undergraduate courses being run by a diverse multi-disciplinary faculty with new courses being developed on a regular basis. We have a robust monthly in situ simulation Programme in most of the wards and departments which the post-holder will run, with supervision. The successful candidate will be involved with in-situ simulations throughout the hospital.
Main duties of the job
- To develop in conjunction with the Simulation and Clinical Skills Lead Specialist, nurse specialists and educators , medical education lead & the chief nurse a robust multi-professional training and education programme for clinical skills/simulation that meets the needs of the clinical areas and provides evidence of clinical skills;
- To contribute to the development of competency and/or assessment frameworks for clinical skills development which takes into account the requirements from local and national initiatives.
- Ensure safe and responsible operation and maintenance of all equipment in the clinical skills/simulation centre. Operate and provide audio-visual support for clinical sessions when required;
