Job summary
The Trust is looking to appoint to the key post of Corporate Secretary, supporting and advising the Chief Executive in their role as Accountable Officer.
The postholder will be an important and valued member of the Trust's senior team. The position will report into the Chief Executive and also involves close liaison with the Trust Chairman, Non-executive Directors and Governors.
The postholder will be responsible for Trust wide corporate governance systems and processes, and will take responsibility for the development of a continuous cycle of improvement in good governance.
Main duties of the job
The role is to ensure that the business of the Trust Board is conducted smoothly and efficiently and to be the adviser to the Board on procedural matters, securing the Trusts compliance with all statutory and legal requirements.
This role is the first point of contact for Governors, Non-executive Directors and Executive Directors, ensuring compliance with financial and legal requirements, championing high standards of governance and promoting best practice.
The post holder will need to build strong relationships across the Board and work within a culture of high performance. They will be a trusted partner to the Chair of the Trust Board and CEO, providing expert, consistent advice and guidance on all governance and compliance matters. This will be enabled by an understanding of the vision and ethos of the Trust and the Council of Governors.
