Job summary
We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated CBT Therapist / Counselling / Clinical Psychologist to join our Diabetes Psychology Team. We need someone who is enthusiastic and motivated, who would like to provide evidence based psychological interventions for people living with diabetes. You must be experienced in working with people with diabetes or LTC.
The job offers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills as well as those needed to work within a multidisciplinary team. Regular supervision will be provided.
The post holder will be responsible for providing a specialist therapy service to patients with type 2 diabetes accessing primary and secondary care services in Hackney. The post holder will work within the Hackney Diabetes Centre Psychology team in improving engagement, self-management and outcomes for people living with diabetes. They will also work specifically in identifying and working with patients who have not engaged with their primary care team and the wider diabetes service. The post holder will also provide one to one and group based support to individuals struggling with common mental health problems based on need.
The successful candidate will be required to work with the diabetes team based at Homerton hospital and across the community in local GP Practices. The post holder will work alongside a multidisciplinary team with disciplines including endocrinology, nursing, psychology, dietetics and diabetes lay educators.
Main duties of the job
- Provide a specialist psychological therapy service for patients from primary care practices across City & Hackney, including assessment, intervention, risk management and referral on to other mental health services as appropriate to need
- Provide specialist psychological therapy training, supervision, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the formulation and treatment of individual
- Provide an equitable and culturally sensitive service to all who access the service including BAME and LGBTQ+ communities, promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of employment practice and service delivery, maintaining good working relationships with voluntary sector agencies and staff.
