Job summary
Community CAMHS is a large mental health service comprising pathways and services from tier 1 (mental health and well being in schools, WAMHS) all the way up to preventing accessing tier 4 through an intensive support pathway. We are embedded within the acute and community services for City and Hackney, working in multi disciplinary ways with physical and community health partners through the Homerton Healthcare which is leading the neighbourhood agenda. We work in an integrated way with other mental health services within the borough, via a CAMHS Alliance. Due to a vacancy in CAMHS Disability Service within the NDT pathway we have an exciting new opportunity to combine this to make a joint post between the early intervention WAMHS work and NDT pathways, to make a broad post within community psychology for a newly qualified clinician.
We are therefore looking for a Clinical or Educational Psychologist to join Community CAMHS at the Hackney Ark. We are a forward thinking, passionate team supporting children and young people with disability and their families, and children and families though early intervention work via First Steps and WAMHS. This is a full-time permanent role. Main duties of the job
The CAMHS Disability Service is well-established and offers a wide range of care pathways (0-18 years; moderate to profound neurodevelopmental, ASD, LD/ID and physical disabilities) including specialist therapeutic interventions, neurodevelopmental assessments with post-diagnostic support, MDT and group interventions, SPA/duty and initial assessments and brief, focused interventions for autism. Systemic and relational models form the basis for much our work, alongside behavioural techniques and a variety of specialist, evidence based approaches. Referrals are diverse, reflecting our local community which we are proud to serve. Training and CPD are an integral part of our service offer to all staff, with a wide range of forums available for learning and development and regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and Trust Policy.

- Complete diagnostic assessments and deliver post-diagnostic interventions, for the tier 3 MDT pathways based on good practice and available evidence, with children and young people suspected of having or confirmed as having a neural developmental condition alongside a learning disability (ASD, ADHD and ID
- Support the NDT CYP and their families, within a multi-agency context. Prepare and carry out clinical work both autonomously and within the context of joint work and a multidisciplinary/multi-agency team, including individual caseload management and MDT pathway initiatives/groupwork
- Be based in two primary schools as a CAMHS link worker within the Wellbeing and Mental Health in Schools (WAMHS) project with First Steps. As a CAMHS link worker in school, develop and sustain close links with education staff, drawing on mental health expertise to increase awareness, recognition and understanding of children and young peoples needs, and improve access to CAMHS services
- Support the work of SPA, Single point of access for the CAMHS Alliance, triaging referrals and thinking as an MDT about CAMHS referrals across the whole syste
- Maintain clear records of referrals management and all clinical activity (RiO)
- Support and implement CYP IAPT and other data collection/data management processes (CORC)
- Plan and organise own workload under guidance from the supervisor and complete administrative tasks as necessary.
- Work flexibly to support both clinical and strategic work.
- Undertake personal development activities appropriate to the post, under the guidance of the line manager.
