Job summary
Apply now and become part of our innovative Same Day Emergency Care Team. We are looking for experienced and newly qualified nurses to join our team who have strong communication and leadership skills with an eagerness to advance emergency and acute nursing/clinical practice. This is an exciting time to join our SDEC team as we provide a robust development programme to support you on your nursing pathway and are regularly reviewing our services to improve patient care. You will work predominantly in SDEC but will also gain experience in acute medicine as a whole across AAU and Charnley (short stay ward). The ideal candidates will be dynamic and forward thinking with a progressive approach to enhancing patient care and safety within urgent, emergency and acute care services. In addition to excellent clinical skills a good working knowledge of care pathways and the patient journey is required, as is priority focus on communication, safe discharge planning and patient transfer.
Main duties of the job
Work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines to work as a named nurse for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for the following: To provide and maintain safe and quality nursing care to emergency pathway patients and their relatives To work within the departmental philosophy and maintain agreed professional standards. To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing, delivering and evaluating care to a diverse range of emergency patients Establish and maintain effective communication with all patients, relatives and Ensure that all documentation is accurate and in accordance with Trust and NMC policies. Be confident to report untoward incidents. Demonstrate an ability to manage time and prioritise care. Develop skills necessary for the care of a range of emergency pathways. To work in accordance with the Princess Alexandra Hospitals Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards. To act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to student nurses and other and participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate.
