Job summary
As a Theatre Orderly, you will support the clinical and non-clinical staff in providing first class health care and administration. Your role will involve many tasks to assist in the maintenance of flow of patients through the hospital, whilst ensuring an efficient service to the patients and the team. Predominantly focusing on the management and distribution of theatre consumable stocks.
Main duties of the job
This role supports the safe and efficient running of a clinical ward or theatre environment. Key responsibilities include ordering, storing, and maintaining supplies and equipment; monitoring equipment functionality and reporting repairs; and ensuring all equipment is correctly cleaned, labelled, and stored. The post holder assists nursing and ward teams with patient care tasks following instruction, including patient transfers, mobilising patients, portering duties, transporting samples, and collecting blood for transfusion. They are also responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness across patient areas, safely disposing of waste and body fluids, and ensuring equipment such as pressure-relieving mattresses is accurately logged and tracked. Overall, the role focuses on infection control, patient safety, stock management, and supporting clinical staff.
