Job summary

To work efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team providing a service of basic cardiac investigations and to assist with the delivery of more complex investigations ensuring optimal standards of care are provided to patients within the Trust. Independently perform a variety of simple diagnostic tests for the cardiac assessment unit following a daily workload schedule as instructed. Communicate effectively with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Independently carry out routine cardiac investigations Support clinicians and senior physiologists by preparing and monitoring patients Maintain accurate clinical records and data entry Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and the wider clinical team Work flexibly across Trust sites as required

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical Duties

Perform 12lead ECGs in accordance with Trust protocols

Fit, explain, and remove cardiac monitoring equipment including:

24hour Holter monitors

Blood pressure monitors

7day cardiac event monitors

Assist with Exercise Tolerance Tests (ETTs)

Recognise and escalate abnormal findings to senior staff (following training)

Support emergency situations through Basic Life Support, after completing the appropriate training

Operational Responsibilities

Work across multiple Trust sites (PAH and SMH)

Use hospital administrative systems including Alex Health, XERO, and CRIS

Ensure accurate booking, documentation, and data entry of patient activity

Maintain clean and safe clinical working areas, including cleaning and preparing equipment

Participate in daily stock level checks and ordering

Support & Administrative Duties

Assist with reception duties when required

Participate in daily checking of emergency equipment (crash trolley and defibrillator)

Support the training and development of junior staff

Professional Responsibilities

Identify personal training needs and participate in mandatory and ongoing training

Ensure all duties comply with Trust policies, procedures, and infection control standards

Adapt to changes in service requirements through discussion and agreement
