Job overview

This position is to work in the new Phlebotomy Department located in the Harvey Centre, Harlow Town.

This position is to start at 6.00am for 3 hours Monday - Friday

To provide an efficient, effective and highest possible standard of cleaning to wards and department. To work without constant supervision and be able to work as part of a team. To observe current Health & Safety

Regulations, adhere to the Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Policy and the Waste Policy.

Main duties of the job.

  • The removal of dust, dirt and debris from surfaces such as floors, walls, fixtures and fittings, doors, ledges, glass and sanitary fittings by appropriate specified methods.
  • Empty and clean waste bins and replace liners. Secure and dispose of household, clinical and confidential waste bags according to Waste Policy.
  • Replenish supplies of soap, hand towels, toilet rolls, alcohol gel and hand cream.
  • Cleaning and correct storage of domestic equipment and materials.
  • Cleaning isolation/barrier nursing areas in accordance with the Trust Infection Control Policy.
  • Assist with deep cleaning programmes.
  • To ensure that patient’s lockers, beds, over bed tables and chairs are kept clean and free of clutter at all times and that the ward/department is tidy throughout.
  • To carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages (including bodily fluids) are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
  • To ensure general and specialist equipment are cleaned as per cleaning policy.
  • To maintain and assist with a programme of curtain changing throughout the ward, in line with Trust Policy.
  • To ensure the observance of safe working methods and practices at all times.
  • To attend all training sessions arranged by Domestic Services.
  • To report all accidents or near misses.
  • To report any faults with domestic equipment to the Domestic Supervisors.
  • To collect and sign out keys necessary and to ensure doors are locked on completion of cleaning tasks.
  • To control the usage of materials allocated.
  • Report any faults or repairs to 3033 Estates help-line.
  • To carry out any other duties as may be required by Line Manager.
  • To ensure that personal privacy, dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
  • To ensure hand hygiene is maintained throughout the course of the shift.
  • Follow the Trust policy for reporting sickness and absence.
  • You are required to take reasonable care for the Health & Safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work and to ensure statutory and department safety regulations are adhered to.
