Main duties of the job

Maintain, calibrate, and service a wide range of medical equipment, including patient-connected, diagnostic, therapeutic, and life-support devices. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and acceptance testing of new equipment to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and manufacturer guidelines. Document all work accurately in the equipment management database and maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Investigate equipment involved in incidents, report outcomes to EBME Manager/MDSO, and liaise with manufacturers and official bodies (MHRA as required. Ensure software and hardware upgrades, safety alerts, and field notices are actioned promptly. Manage spare parts inventory within budgetary limits and collaborate with stakeholders to improve service delivery and device management. Provide and contribute to planning and implementation of new installations. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose issues, and implement timely repairs or coordinate with external service providers. Work across all PAH sites and external organizations as required, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Stay updated on medical technology advancements and recommend upgrades or replacements as appropriate.

  • Carry out full electronic and bio-medical servicing of a broad range of biomedical equipment working to component level as appropriate.
  • Ensure all work undertaken is documented in the appropriate manner, recorded and updated using department equipment database.
  • To be involved in the trial, assessment, evaluation and provide overall advice around decision making for new equipment.
  • Acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Work closely with technical and clinical staff to provide high standards of service delivery and assisting in the continuous improvement of management of medical equipment across the Trust.
  • Maintain proper control over the use and ordering of spare parts to ensure budgetary guidelines are adhered to.
  • To work across all PAH sites and PCT sites where required.

  • BTEC / ONC in Electronic Engineering (Level 5) or Physical Science or an equivalent combination of qualifications or experience

Experience
