Job summary
To work within a team of Dietitians to provide a dietetic service to adult services within the Trust. This will involve being responsible for the dietetic assessment and management of a caseload of adult inpatients and outpatients.
Main duties of the job
CLINICAL DUTIES To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of inpatients within the Trust, primarily across acute medical and surgical wards. To manage a regular outpatient clinic. This clinic will primarily involve the dietetic management of patients requiring nutritional support advice, advice relating to gastrointestinal conditions such as coeliac disease or inflammatory bowel disease, and advice relating to endocrinology conditions such as reactive hypoglyceamia. To organise own caseload effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical and service priorities, with excellent time-management skills. To work with other adult Dietitians in the department to ensure appropriate cover for the Dietetic service. To complete nutritional assessments, including the calculation of nutritional requirements and interpretation of information including anthropometrical, biochemical, clinical, pharmacological, dietetic, social and psychological factors. This will require analysing information that can be complex, conflicting and contentious. To be competent in the use of anthropometric equipment for the assessment of nutritional status, and to interpret the results to advise on appropriate treatment plans.
