Job summary

Are you an experienced engineering professional looking to take the next step in your career? The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Estates Supervisor Electrical to lead the operational management of building and engineering services across our estate. This is a pivotal role within our Estates team, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient services that support high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for managing staff, liaising with capital projects teams, and providing expert technical guidance across the Trust. Main duties of the job

Operational management of building and engineering services, including staff supervision. Act as Authorising Person for designated systems. Liaise with Capital Projects Teams to ensure compliance with design and build standards. Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) services in line with statutory and HTM requirements. Manage performance monitoring systems to ensure compliance.

  • Lead and support energy-saving initiatives aligned with the Trust’s Green Plan.
  • Deputise for the Head of Estates when required.
  • Represent Estates at internal and external meetings, including ICS, regional, and national levels
  • Provide technical and professional support to Estates staff, Capital teams, and Trust officers.
  • Ensure plant and equipment are installed and maintained for optimal efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage the Permit to Work system and ensure robust safety protocols.
  • Promote effective leadership and staff development through performance appraisals and personal development plans.
  • Lead recruitment, induction, training, and performance management of Estates staff.
  • Foster a culture of equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement policies and service improvements in response to organisational needs.
  • Ensure financial compliance and value-for-money service delivery.
  • Participate in strategic planning, business development, and performance analysis across the Trust’s asset base.
  • Maintain IIP standards and prepare for reassessment.

  • Trade apprenticeship in discipline or equivalent

Desirable

  • Health and safety certification e.g. NEBOSH or IOSH

Experience

  • Significant experience in engineering discipline
  • Experience in managing maintenance operations
  • Proven ability to manage change within a changing site
  • Proven ability to manage teams
  • Knowledge of HTM's and HBN's
  • Knowledge of compliance standards and audit tools
  • Ability to develop policies and guide technicians on best practices and safety protocols
  • Ability to demonstrate honesty, reliability and trust
