Job summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Estates Officer to join our Estates and Facilities team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job Lead and manage the building maintenance workforce and oversee contract works. Act as Authorised Person for lifts and other technical systems. Maintain and review planned maintenance programmes and asset registers. Provide technical and operational advice, risk assessments, and audits. Liaise with external inspectors and statutory authorities. Participate in the Estates on-call rota for emergency response. Manage delegated budgets and ensure compliance with financial instructions. Support the development of the Trusts Estates Strategy and workforce planning.

This is a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the hospital’s building infrastructure and maintenance services.   • Grounds and gardens

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus specialist knowledge or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience i.e. Relevant electrical qualification and portfolio permitting IHEEM or ImechE registration. Postgraduate/diploma level or equivalent i.e. Authorised Persons qualification in medical gas pipeline systems, HVAC or pressure systems
  • Asbestos awareness recognised qualification at QCF level 3 or above
  • Qualified Engineer in relevant discipline i.e. building, carpentry, HVAC

Desirable

  • Membership of a professional organisation e.g. IET, CIBSE
  • Recognised qualification in management or leadership at QCF level 5 or above

Experience

Essential

  • Appointed Authorised person for either LV electricity, water systems, pressure systems or the relevant qualifications to achieve this.
  • Previous management experience of multi-skilled engineering team
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an engineer in a building or construction trade.
  • Extensive experience in operational structural engineering maintenance
  • High level of mechanical engineering knowledge, techniques, systems and standards
  • In depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and risk management
  • Excellent communicator and self- motivator
  • Able to deal effectively with other professional staff
