Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Speech and Language Team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow as a band 3 speech and language therapy assistant.

You will work alongside qualified speech and language therapists and an assistant practitioner to provide treatment to patients across all our wards. You will be involved in assisting patients with a structured dysphagia rehabilitation programmes and undertake basic screening of patients that are refereed into the service.

Training will be provided to achieve competencies in order for you to for fill the role.

This is a part time post of 18.75 hours per week, preferably over 5 days but working pattern can be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the Speech and Language Therapy team as an assistant therapist, providing care to inpatients on acute wards, within the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. The role will involve providing support to qualified therapists in administrative/clinical tasks and assisting with development of services for patients, colleagues and the speech and language service

To provide skilled routine and some non-routine, clinical and non-clinical support to the speech and language therapy team. Follow guidelines agreed and set by the therapists to assess and manage patients with swallowing and communication difficulties.
