Job summary
Epping Breast Unit diagnosis over 300 new breast cancers a year from symptomatic and breast screening clinics. The role of the Breast Care Nursing team is to provide a specialist
service to support for patients through this journey.
This job purpose is to function as a Clinical Nurse Specialist providing advice and effective nursing care to all patients within the Breast Care Service whilst working as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Breast Care Team.
Main duties of the job
- To assess the information needs of patients, service users, family and friends, and provide relevant support, information, education, advice and counselling when necessary.
- To support patients with breast cancer throughout the duration of their cancer journey from the period of investigation, diagnosis and treatment and beyond. With particular responsibility for patients with secondary breast cancer.
- Facilitates all staff in the development of practice with a view to promoting person centred care when caring for the individual with Breast Disease.
- Participates in the provision of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP).
