Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional and experienced Service Manager to join our team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. This post sits within the theatre, anaesthetic and critical care division within surgery; a challenging and exciting place to work. You will help to deliver a selection of productivity schemes and therefore will have good business management skills coupled with good financial knowledge While we face the same financial and performance pressures as all NHS Trusts, we are undertaking significant projects we would want you to lead on to improve healthcare delivery throughout the division.
Your ability to engage and lead teams through change and act as an operational manager will be vital. You will be expected to solve day-to-day challenges, around theatre efficiency and patient flow, alongside managing an admin and clerical team of 35 people.
You will be flexible, resilient, collaborative, and confident to challenge the status quo while building excellent working relationships that quickly enable you to become a trusted and credible leader across all staff groups.
Main duties of the job
The Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:
- Work with the divisional management team to ensure the achievement of performance and other local and national clinical and non-clinical targets.

Provide operational management to the service, supervising systems and processes for specific areas.
In liaison with the quality and governance leads ensure appropriate systems and processes are established in departments to support the robust reporting and progress of governance, risk and safeguarding issues.
Manage designated financial resources within budget and support the General Manager/ in financial management within the Division
Support the development of service line reporting and service line management across the division
