Job summary
The Medical Device Engineer will work with clinical and operational services to provide support of clinical staff in the use of medical equipment, aiding Workstream Lead and the EBME Manager is ensuring that medical devices used in the Trust are compatible with the Cerner Millennium EHR. The use of comprehensive IT is a large part of this post as is participating in the running and monitoring of the medical equipment library, working in accordance with Quality Management Systems. Organise & update service, operation and instruction manuals for equipment as well as ensure, in collaboration with IT, that medical devices are connected to the network. The post holder will also comply with the following requirements:

Main duties of the job
- Provide specialised services for preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection and repair to a wide range of complex and patient critical medical equipment.
- Undertake advanced fault finding on specialist medical equipment including anaesthetics.
- Carry out repair, calibration, quality control, safety and acceptance testing.
- Ensure equipment performs to the manufactures specification and Cerner Millennium paramaters.
- Liaise with staff and management to gain a clear understanding of the nature of the equipment failure.
- Use technical and clinical experience to identify potential hazardous symptoms and faults.
- To provide specialist training to the team appropriately.
- To lead on incidents investigations, patients and devices.
- Communicates technical equipment-related information to staff, colleagues,

- To provide inputs into overall EHR Change Management Strategy, Clinical Safety Report and ensure workstream plans are aligned to the strategy.
- To work closely with Infrastructure leads to identify all end user devices including biomedical devices as per the Future State workflows
- To report and escalate issues around requirements and functionality delivery, as appropriate, to the EHR Workstream Lead
- Work closely with the Training Team to develop Lesson Plans, validation and train the trainer sessions. Support end user Training programme and be responsible for ensuring Training thresholds for their specific module/service area are met
- Support Full Dress Rehearsal and Go-Live Cutover planning and ensure that their respective Module/Service area is ready for
- Lead on the updates to Standard Operating Procedure documentation and work with Trust staff to ensure Trust policies and procedures are updated where relevant
