Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a District General Hospital providing acute services to the people of West Essex and East Hertfordshire and has a positive and successful approach to developing and delivering health care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our ICT Team as a Solution Design and Development Manager, line managing and developing a team of software developers. This is a great opportunity to develop the Trust's systems architecture and interoperability.

In recent years the Trust has embarked on a digitalisation progress to remove paper-based activities and to automate many low- or no-value-adding administrative tasks in both clinical and non-clinical functions. The Post-holder will be responsible for delivery and support of Digital Automation solutions that will require a deep knowledge and experience in Robot Process Automation (RPA), electronic forms, workflow solutions and system to system interconnectivity.

Main duties of the job

You will be an expert in your field and ready to play a pivotal role in enabling the Trust to achieve its strategic and operational goals.

The ICT Department is at the juncture of setting its Strategy for the next 5 years and has created a number of additional roles to accomplish what is a very ambitious target in readiness for a possible new Hospital being built.

  • Ensure that new or replacement systems properly integrate with other Trust and partner systems as appropriate.
  • The post holder will find opportunities for efficiencies when designing technical solutions to assist the Trust in reducing the total cost of ownership of ICT systems and duplication of data or manual input.
  • Will work closely with the Technical Services Manager to make significant contribution to the ICT Strategy for the Trust, ensuring close alignment with business and financial objectives.
  • Will develop and maintain an integration and digital automation strategy reflecting the ICT and clinical digital strategy
  • Design, code, test, build and maintain Trust interfaces. It is expected that the post holder will build, test, install and maintain interfaces on behalf of the Trust using a variety of programming and application development tools.
  • Assess the opportunity, develop, test and support a growing set of digital automation solutions using the trusts chosen automation tools. Support and evolve the Digital Automation methodology and standards ongoing.
