An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, committed community midwifery teams based either at Dunmow or Harlow.
We are looking to appoint highly motivated and enthusiastic midwives who are able to demonstrate that they are a team player, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for midwifery.
We are looking for midwives that will put women and their families first and deliver a safe quality service, ensuring The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is the preferred place of birth as well as the preferred place of employment.
All staff who are employed by PAH will have an additional fringe London Weighting payment added to their salary
Main duties of the job
An opportunity to work within the community in a traditional team model, providing high quality, individualised and woman centred care in the antenatal and postnatal period.
Within the community, you will be required to do on calls to support the homebirth service. This is an excellent opportunity for a midwife to develop skills, knowledge and experience within the community setting. Full induction and support will be provided.

Job responsibilities
Assist the Team Co-ordinator to provide a range of maternity services to a defined group of women within the community and hospital setting.
Work autonomously in the community referring to Team Co-ordinator and Community Midwifery Matron as appropriate.
Evaluate and plan programmes of care for women, babies and their families within the community and hospital setting
Plans own workload on a day-to-day basis and delegates appropriately.
Act as a mentor and participate in preceptorship programmes
Promote continuity of care to provide a high standard of midwifery care to mother and baby and to provide help and support to the family unit
Actively promote the concept of total holistic woman centered care within the maternity services offering choice to women regarding place of birth.
Provide information to the expectant mother to enable her to make an informed choice about the place and mode of delivery and services available
Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for mothers and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods to ensure practice is evidence-based.
