Job summary
The Audiology team is looking for a Senior Paediatric Audiologist on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months.
You will deliver paediatric assessment between the ages of 0-18 and rehabilitation between the ages of 3-18, and carry out all aspects of routine and advanced hearing assessments on both adults and children, performing diagnostic audiological testing. This includes full Pure tone Audiometry, Impedance testing, Speech Audiometry and Stapedial Reflex and Decay testing where appropriate.
We are a small team of 13 working across 3 sites, and we are committed to education and training, evidenced by our PTP, STP and MSc Trainees. One of our previous PTP students is now working on their STP with us. and one of our MSc students is now a full-time staff member with us. We currently have two apprentices.
As this is a temporary post, existing paediatric experience is essential. Ability to perform Auditory Brainstem would be desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in the day to day running of the department which includes the following:
- Assessment of patients with hearing difficulties referred directly from GPs.
- Perform objective tests procedures which may include ERA and OAE and interpret results accordingly.
- Carry out all aspects of routine and advanced hearing assessments on both adults and children, performing diagnostic audiological testing; including full Pure tone Audiometry, Impedance testing, Speech Audiometry and Stapedial Reflex and Decay testing where appropriate.
- Perform some paediatric assessments and undertake auditory rehabilitation programmes, including fitting and exchange of hearing aids and ear mould provision for children.
- Interpretation of audiometric results, plan and manage patients; treatment accordingly.
- Perform hearing aid selection, prescription and fitting, demonstrating an understanding and knowledge of the various hearing aid products available (including analogue, programmable and digital) while taking into account the specific hearing loss and individual factors.
- Take ear mould impressions; make decisions as to which ear is appropriate to fit and which ear mould type is required.
- Ear mould modifications.
- Use of Real Ear Measurement when fitting digital hearing aids.
