Job summary

This is an exciting and newly created post and offers the opportunity for a individual with demonstrable leadership and a vision for children's services. The Head of Children's Nursing will provide professional nursing and strategic leadership for children and young people's wherever they are cared for across the Trust. They will be responsible for initiating and influencing the creation of new models of care and ensuring national standards are met in the delivery of high-quality services that support the care of children and young people.

They will offer dynamic and responsive leadership with a flexible and adaptable approach to support the local and system demands of a challenging, forward thinking children and young people's services.

They will represent the trust in collaborative working with system colleagues including the regional children's and neonatal network's to ensure services meet the needs of Children, young people and their families and provide outstanding outcomes in care, treatment and experience.

Providing operational management, support as required by the service need.

Main duties of the job

This is a senior leadership role in which the post holder will be responsible for operational direction and the provision of management for children's, young peoples and neonatal services.

The post holder will be expected to provide professional leadership for children and young people's services ensuring the delivery of consistently high standard of care, patient experience and satisfaction wherever they are seen within the Trust.

The post holder will be required to work with the Division in the day-to-day delivery of the clinical business of the Service and assumes delegated functions of corporate nursing development programmes for children's, neonatal and young peoples service

The post holder will demonstrate a highly visible, authoritative and democratic leadership style, which is underpinned by the values of the Trust.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) provides a full range of general acute, outpatient and diagnostic services at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, the Herts and Essex Hospital in Bishop's Stortford, and St Margaret's Hospital in Epping.

We employ 3,500 staff and serve a local population of around 350,000 people living in west Essex and east Hertfordshire, centred on the M11 corridor and the towns of Harlow, Bishop's Stortford and Epping. Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level.

  • Evidence of extensive experience and a proven track record of quality improvements, innovation and safety improvements at senior management level.

Desirable

  • An accredited qualification in leadership or currently undertaking a programme.
  • Coaching experience
