Job summary

Ward accreditation schemes have been shown to promote safer patient care by motivating staff and sharing best practice between ward areas and is one of three central pillars of the Chief Nursing Officer for England's national shared governance and collective leadership programmes.

The post holder will be lead on the development and delivery of the PAH's Ward Accreditation programme which is a key driver in delivery of on-going improvement and or ambition to be an outstanding organisation.

They will co-ordinate the delivery of the ward accreditation programme ensuring adherence to the agreed timetable and processes ensuring the assessments, reports and accreditation improvement plans are monitored to ensure improvements and agreed actions are met with the aim for full achievement of all Accreditation standards and green status for all clinical areas across all wards and departments within PAH.

Main duties of the job

Now is an exciting time to join our Nursing and Quality team as we work towards achieving the Princess Alexandra Hospitals Trust 2030 vision to be Outstanding, Integrated and Modern.

Ward accreditation programmes have been shown to helps nurses, midwives and care staff understand what the expectedstandards are at ward and unit level by providing a clear set of standards anda measure of how well a ward or unit is delivering quality care.

The successful applicant will be educated to Master's degree level or have an equivalent demonstrable level of knowledge acquired through experience and further training / development. You will be able to interpret data and apply relevant professional challenge and judgement.

You will have excellent communication skills with a requirement to be able to talk informally and formally at all levels of the Trust including executive level . You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have a proven ability to improve services through leading change projects and can motivate nursing staff at all levels

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent experience
  • Teaching qualification such as practice assessor or mentorship

Desirable

  • Professional Nurse Advocate
  • Project management qualification eg PRINCE 2

Skills and knowldege

Essential

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills including face to face presentations and report writing
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of ward accreditation programmes
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of current developments and national strategic direction of CNO
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusivity

Desirable

  • Experience of leading and delivering ward accreditation programmes with evidence of outcomes
  • Experience of developing ward accreditation programmes and implementing governance structures.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and act upon data and influence information dashboards
  • Ability to be intellectually flexible and to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organizations to be innovative

  • Experience or proven track record in leading the delivery of project management that has improved quality standards at Band 7 or above
  • Experience of leading on and establishing effective working relationships at a high level and across a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of using IT programmes including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing systems to monitor nursing standards
  • Experience in leading by example to motivate and empower others
  • Clinically credible within the workforce
