Consultant Community Paediatrician and CDS Service Lead

Job summary

This 6 PA substantive Consultant post is based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Child Development Service (CDS).

In this 6 PA job, the post holder will undertake clinical work which will be outpatient based and is a part of the excellent multi-disciplinary team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

We will be holding the formal AAC interview on the 1st of June 2026.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be doing outpatient clinics at St. Mary's Hospital and Woodfield Road Medical Centre, managing children accepted in all pathways of the service including neurodisability, Autism, ADHD, developmental delay and safeguarding. The postholder will also be responsible for children on CDS pathways who are admitted on the ward for medical conditions and participate with the multidisciplinary teams involved in care. The postholder will participate in implementing a robust transition care plan during discharge of children on PICU.

The postholder will also be required to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and supervise Specialist Registrars and Clinical Fellows in Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics. The postholder will be required to be involved in clinical audits, Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) and research within the department.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP, MRCPCH by examination or Equivalent
  • Full GMC registration
  • On the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR in Paediatrics
  • Capable to work at Consultant level in Community Child Health

Experience in Specialty

Essential

  • Has achieved the competencies relating to General Paediatric Training, usually after 2 years of General Professional Training in Paediatrics
  • Is able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to Higher Specialist Paediatric Training including Paediatric Neurology, Neurodisability, Neurodevelopment and Community Paediatrics

Clinical Audit

Essential

  • Experience of conducting an audit
  • Shows an understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and organisational risk

Teaching

  • Experience of teaching undergraduates, junior doctors and junior members of staff
