We are looking for caring and motivated Healthcare Support Workers to join our Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine team.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist service supporting women undergoing gynaecological treatment, early pregnancy care, fertility treatment and complex reproductive health journeys. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work closely with registered nurses, midwives and doctors to deliver safe, dignified and person-centred care.

You will assist with personal care, support patients before and after procedures, help maintain a calm and reassuring environment, and ensure patients feel heard and respected throughout their care experience.

Working in Gynaecology and Reproductive Medicine requires empathy, emotional resilience and excellent communication skills. You will support women experiencing a wide range of clinical and emotional needs, including those undergoing surgery, fertility treatment, pregnancy loss or complex investigations. Your role will be essential in maintaining privacy, dignity and safety.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrates own duties/ role to new starters undertaking a buddying role for new Health Care Support Workers.
  • Frequent exposure to emotional/distressing events, e.g., breaking of bad news by registered health professionals.
  • Assist in the care of patients at end of life and after death.
  • Orders supplies under the direction of the nurse in charge.
  • Participate in patient and public involvement activities.
  • Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of the environment.
  • Undertake mandatory training and role specific training relevant to role.
  • Prioritises own workload.

  • QCF Level 3 in Health or equivalent (NVQ3, Advanced Apprenticeship)
  • Numerate

Experience

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and insight into the role of a Healthcare Support Worker within an inpatient gynaecology setting.
  • Possess up-to-date experience working within a healthcare environment, providing safe, compassionate, and effective care under the supervision of registered professionals.
  • Show evidence of practical skills relevant to patient care, including monitoring observations, assisting with procedures, and supporting the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain compliance with Trust policies and mandatory training requirements to ensure high standards of care and patient safety.

  • Previous experience working in a gynaecology or women's health setting.
