Job summary
We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dietetic Assistant to join our forward-thinking and friendly Nutrition and Dietetic Department. We are a high-profile service providing Nutrition & Dietetic services to Charing Cross, St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospitals. This Dietetic Assistant post will be based at Charing Cross Hospital.
You will be required to have excellent communication, administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills to support the department's dietetic service.

Main duties of the job
- To assist qualified therapy staff to deliver patient care, assessment and treatment including individual and group sessions.
- To carry out tasks, activities and responsibilities delegated by a qualified therapist.
- To follow instructions of treating qualified therapist to treat patients following a designated treatment plan.
- Gain valid informed consent prior to and as an ongoing process of any intervention.
- To work within a legal framework, under the supervision of a qualified therapist, including for those patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- To safely use a range of therapy and medical equipment as appropriate to role, following training.
- To assist with the care of patients including preparing drinks, supervising eating and drinking, toileting, dressing and undressing, as appropriate to role.
- To be able to recognise change in the condition of a patient with guidance from the qualified therapist and to observe and record the patient response to any treatment undertaken and report change to clinician.
- To manage clinical risk within a caseload at all times including observing patients in all situations applicable to within therapy sessions, ensuring safety and security at all times.
- To demonstrate physical ability, dexterity and co-ordination to carry out therapy interventions.
- To be able to cope with potentially stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner.
