Job summary

Are you a Reporting Radiographer who also enjoys the fast-paced, clinical environment of a busy imaging department? Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Reporting Radiographer to join our team in a multi-specialism role at St Mary's Hospital, one of London's busiest Major Trauma Centres (MTC).

This position offers a balanced split between clinical interpretation and rotational radiography. We understand that high-quality reporting requires focus; therefore, your reporting sessions are firmly ring-fenced within your timetable, ensuring you have the dedicated time needed for diagnostic excellence without operational interruption.

Note on working patterns: This is a 7-day contracted role. You will be expected to work as part of a 7-day roster to support our clinical commitment to weekend reporting and imaging services. Please note that while weekend work is a core requirement, there is no requirement for night shifts in this role.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the provision of an efficient radiology service.
  • To work as part of a professional radiography team providing a high-quality diagnostic service.
  • To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
  • To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development (CPD).
  • To undertake a range of diagnostic imaging examinations including general radiography (plain film), CT(Computed Tomography Scan) and interventional radiology, in line with departmental protocols and individual competency.

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
  • Health Care Professions Council Registration
  • Accredited Post Graduate qualification in plain film reporting Chest and/or MSK Axial and Appendicular (PgCert, PgDip, MSc).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Desirable

  • Student clinical assessors' course
  • College of Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course
  • Post graduate modules in topics relevant to post

Experience

Essential

  • Plain Film Reporting - appendicular and axial
  • Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
  • Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality

Desirable

  • Previous involvement in leading Case-Based Learning (CBL) or REALM sessions.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff by providing a continuous feedback loop between the reporting room and the imaging floor.
