Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Junior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The closing date is 02 April 2026

Job summary

This post has been created to allow those considering a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to gain experience in this speciality in a dynamic tertiary level unit. St Mary's has a high risk labour ward with Level 2/3 neonatal care facilities with a busy gynaecological emergency service and many gynaecological clinics affording excellent training and audit opportunities. Activities will include dedicated sessions for the development of new clinical skills. The posts have similar timetables to doctors in training grades and provide an excellent basis for applying for a national training number in the future, for which we have an outstanding track-record. The out of hours rotas involves working a 1:9 full shift rota that is EWTD compliant with good supervision and support from more senior trainees and consultants.

Main duties of the job

A typical weekly timetable will be as follows with an out of hours commitment to general obstetrics & gynaecology which is 1B compliant (usually a 1:9 rota with a split week on call), for more detail refere to attached Job Description and Person Specification.

About us

We provide acute and specialist health care in North West London for around a million people annually. We have five hospitals - Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea, St Mary's and The Western Eye - as well as a growing number of community services.

With Imperial College London, we are a designated academic health science centre, supporting rapid translation of research and excellence in education. We seek to ensure our care is not only clinically outstanding but also as kind and thoughtful as possible. We want to play our full part in helping people live their lives to the fullest.

St Mary's Hospital, Paddington is the major acute hospital for north west London. It is has a maternity centre with consultant and midwife-led services. The hospital provides care across a wide range of specialities and runs one of four major trauma centres in London, as well as a 24/7 A&E department. Our clinical strategy requires a major redevelopment of the St Mary's site to bring together more of our urgent and emergency care services in state-of-the art facilities.
