Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Coder. Teams work corporately across five rotating clinical PODs, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of Trust activity to support financial flows and strategic management. The department is introducing AI-assisted coding software, placing it at the forefront of innovation in clinical coding.
You must demonstrate strong analytical, logical, and communication skills. Flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. An ACC qualification is required, withpost-qualification experience across medical and surgical specialities in an acute setting.

The team works remotely 3 days a week and on site Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A 10% recruitment and retention premium applies.
Main duties of the job
- To participate with all team members in meeting strict local, national and contractual deadlines for the assignment of clinical codes using the classifications ICD-10 and OPCS-4, to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for each patient treated within the trust.
- To enhance the accuracy and completeness of the clinical coding through improved sources of information, engaging clinicians, and the Divisions and relevant departments in particular where it impacts on high cost and complex specialised areas where additional expertise is required.
- Provide professional coding technical support to the coding teams and also SLA, Divisions and Information/ICT and Finance in these and other areas.
