As a Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist, you'll act as a pivotal figure in our multidisciplinary team, providing specialist care and holistic support to patients throughout their cancer journey from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. You'll deliver expert advice, advocate for patients, and play a key role in coordinating personalised care plans aligned with the NHS cancer plan. Your work will empower patients to make informed decisions and access vital resources to improve their quality of life.

We're looking for a nurse with proven expertise in oncology, team management, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering patient-centred care. You'll have the autonomy to lead and influence change, develop educational programmes, and contribute to research and quality improvement projects. This role also offers a chance to engage with leading cancer alliances and contribute to the future of cancer care.

Main duties of the job

  • Working within our Gynaecology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team, you will support service development and help improve patient experience based on emerging and best practice models of care that is responsive to patient feedback and audit findings.
  • You will be expected to support the wider team in playing a leading role in ensuring they comply with local and national policy, clinical governance and Peer Review.
  • You will work collaboratively all members of the extended multidisciplinary team including; imaging departments, medical and surgical consultants, other tumour site clinical nurse specialists, research teams, acute oncology, specialist palliative care team, ward plus clinic nursing teams and administrative teams plus community and referring General Practitioners
  • Integral to you your role, you will support the educational needs of staff working in the medical, surgical and oncology departments to ensure you and your team's expertise has maximum impact
