Job summary

We are offering an opportunity for a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist in Critical Care surgery and respiratory pathways to join our progressive therapy team, at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

We will consider a Band 7 to step up and be supported to the Band 8a position depending on experience. This pivotal role spans the patient journey from initial admission in ICU through to safe transfer of care into the community. You will play a vital part in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, ensuring continuity and excellence throughout recovery from critical care.

As a senior clinician, you will lead on specialist assessments, treatments, and pathway planning. Your responsibilities will include supporting the coordination of patient flow from ICU to wards and follow-up clinics, supporting liaison between teams, and embedding best practice across critical care units and pathways.

We are seeking an individual with advanced clinical expertise to combined with strong leadership qualities, innovative thinking, and a passion for collaborative, patient-centred care. You will join a forward-thinking team with an excellent track record in care delivery, actively involved in NWL Critical Care, Cardiac, neurosciences and Major Trauma Networks, as well as pan-London therapy specific networks.

Main duties of the job

  • Inspire and motivate others to deliver best practice and to continually improve standards in line with the evidence base and national guidelines.
  • Provide clinical leadership and influence for planning and service delivery within clinical area of expertise.
  • To demonstrate professional skills, standards and experience consistent with a specialist in the field and to ensure/oversee that services provided comply with professional and departmental standards of practice in collaboration with the Clinical service leads /clinical academics and clinical leads.
  • Promote and develop a learning environment within area of practice using a collaborative approach.
  • To support the development and implementation of a training strategy for area of responsibility in collaboration with team leads/clinical academics, and clinical specialists.
  • Support research awareness and activity within the team, in collaboration with the clinical academics and clinical leads in therapies.
  • To maintain and enhance skills and knowledge in order to maintain professional competence and fitness to practise.
