Job summary
Manvers ward is a 33- bedded ward specialising in respiratory medicine, and the care of patients with both acute and chronic conditions. The ward area includes an 8- bedded Acute Respiratory Unit (ARU), a dedicated area for patients requiring acute interventions such as Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV), tracheostomy care and the use of monitoring and blood gas analysis to ensure our patients have the support they need at the earliest opportunity. In this area we have a nurse to patient ratio of 1:2, making this a great place to work if you are looking to develop your acute respiratory skills.
The clinical area are supported by a multi-disciplinary team of specialists, working to help our patients receive the highest standard of care.
The Manvers ARU team is passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. We offer you specialist training, support, courses and competencies in respiratory nursing to allow you to grow and develop within the specialty and we are looking for a candidate to join our team to deliver high standard of care for patient with respiratory condition.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Plan organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.
