Job summary
Imperial College Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Research Registrar in Otorhinolaryngology.Applications are sought from a higher surgical trainee in ENT with the start date Feb 2026. This post incorporates some operating and clinics and take part in on-call rota.
The ENT Department at Imperial has a worldwide reputation for excellence and innovation. The department has 20 consultants and sees nearly 14,000 new outpatients a year at the two main sites.
In addition to routine ENT surgery, all consultants have subspecialist skills. Several members of the team are recognised as international experts in their field. As a result, patients are referred from all over the UK, Europe and other countries worldwide. Imperial is the Supra-Regional Skull Base Surgery Centre, Regional Head and Neck Cancer Centre, Regional Thyroid Cancer Centre and the National Centre for Adult Airway Reconstruction.
The ENT department is currently based on 2 sites, Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary's Hospital. In addition to this paediatric outpatient and surgery is provided at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, with further specialist clinics at The Royal Brompton. On call cover is provided for all 5 hospitals (including Hammersmith Hospital, and out of hours at West Middlesex Hospital). The department is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team with a mix of clinical experience and expertise. There are 16 ENT surgeons alongside a dedicated team of administrative and clerical staff.
Main duties of the job
Key Areas of Responsibility:
To enhance and complement the skill mix and services provided by the ENT department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
To advance the Otorhinolaryngology service across sites working in collaboration with related surgical specialties to develop new pathways and model of care.
To provide high quality care to all ENT patients
To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.
To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.
To undertake administrative duties associated with their patients in line with departmental guidelines.
To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Imperial College as required
Adhere to Trust/departmental guidelines on leave including reporting absence.
