We are seeking a passionate and highly experienced nurses with a strong background in managing safeguarding cases and situations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to improving the safety and well being of children and young people within an acute hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience in an acute hospital environment or possess transferable skills that will support our safeguarding agenda. This role offers the chance to develop specialist clinical expertise in safeguarding children and young people while working across a diverse range of services.

Main duties of the job

As a Safeguarding Nurse, you will:Provide expert safeguarding support across all five Trust sites, covering a wide range of specialities including:

o Trauma serviceso Specialist eye hospitalo Two Accident & Emergency departmentso Urgent Care Centreso Sexual health serviceso Paediatric inpatient services (general medicine, PICU, specialist haematology, infectious diseases, and more)o Triage all unscheduled care attendances for children under 18, ensuring timely identification and intervention for safeguarding concerns.o Collaborate and share information with external agencies such as health visitors, school nurses, social workers, integrated gang units, and Red thread.o Deliver safeguarding training and supervision to staff, promoting best practice across the Trust.o Advocate for children and young people in safeguarding meetings and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure their safety and well being.

You will be supported and mentored by the safeguarding team, named nurses, and consultant nurse to help you thrive in this role.

  • RN AND registered Health Visitor/Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with completion of child & family focus programme
  • Educated to a degree level in relevant subject area or evidence of equivalent
  • RN with relevant safeguarding children experience

  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
