Job summary
We are excited to announce a wonderful opportunity to join the Infectious Diseases (I.D) Research Team within the Division of Medicine and Integrated Care. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Band 5 Clinical Research Nurse to support our inpatient I.D clinical research studies on a one-year fixed-term contract.
This role involves onsite working only. You will be based primarily at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, with travel to Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, as needed, to assist with both commercial and non-commercial research studies.
The role is patient facing, working in I.D wards, ICU, A&E and other clinical areas as needed. It involves coordinating I.D research studies activities, including recruitment, conducting study visits, data collection and completion. During recruitment you will be required to take consent and samples from patients diagnosed with known pathogens such as Monkeypox, SARS, COVID and Infuenza as well as any newly identified pathogens that may emerge.
Main duties of the job
o To support the research teams in the facilitation of efficient, safe and participant focused research.
o To contribute to the recruitment of the local portfolio of clinical research studies.
o To have acquired understanding of research terminology, methodology and study design.
o To support senior staff in the feasibility process of new studies in your clinical area.
o To work with service teams and the public in raising the awareness of clinical research.
o To act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors and to always be accountable for own clinical practice and professional actions.
o To be actively involved in the development and implementation of Trust policies and procedures at department level and reinforce their use.
