An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term post within our hepatology team to be a part of theWest London Viral Hepatitis Operational Deliver Network.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the dynamic and diverse team at St Mary's Hospital, predominantly supporting the care pathway for patients who are found to haveviral hepatitis through the emergency department blood borne virus opt-out testing programme.
To be successful you will have a flexible and professional approach, as well as the ability and confidence to cope with the demands and pressures of a busy working environment. The postholder will be expected to work autonomously as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Hepatology service specialising in viral hepatitis, providing expert and complex care advice, clinical care, education, advice and support for individuals and their carers through the development and provision of nurse led clinics.
The post is funded for 30 hours per week for 12 months from start date. There is no evening or weekend shifts as standard in the Operational Deliver Network team and there will be flexibility for how the 30 hours is covered across the week. The post holder will be primarily based at St Mary's Hospital but will also berequired to work at other hospitals within the Trust and outreach work within the community.
Main duties of the job
- Communicate effectively with clients, relatives, colleagues and managers, both verbally and in writing. Maintaining all associated records.
- To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the clinical setting and Trust wide.
- Maintain and promote effective communication both verbally and in writing with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other Wards or Departments, including formal and informal presentation of information relating to your service.
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, providing specialist advice and actively seeking evidence based practice which will improve the quality of care and meet the needs of a group of patients.
- Manage episodes of care as own/joint/ shared caseload, discharging patients as per protocol.
- To be actively involved in the development of Trust policies and procedures, providing specialist input, leading their implementation and reinforce their use.
- To manage the efficient and effective use of supplies, provisions and equipment within delegated budgets.
- Be actively involved in staff education and development, including utilising appropriate learning opportunities and to act as a mentor and resource for student nurses, adaptation and unqualified members of the nursing team.
