Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Junior Sister who wants to join our dynamic and diverse team within Douglas ward at St Mary's Hospital.
The successful candidates must have good decision making skills, enhance clinical experience with good managerial skills in managing and leading a busy Hepatology ward and acute medicine side rooms in delivering patient centered care within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team. Nurses are also exposed to managing patients with a higher acuity within the unit and as such we work closely with the Critical Care Outreach team, Hepatology team and the Medical High Dependency Unit. Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
- Plans organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.
