West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH) is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Intensive Care nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Clinical Facilitator within the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St Mary's Hospital.
This role is ideal for a motivated practitioner who is passionate about education, clinical excellence and supporting the development of others, while continuing to deliver high-quality direct patient care.
As a Clinical Facilitator, you will act as a professional role model, supporting and coordinating education and practice development within PICU. Working closely with the Lead Nurse for Education, Clinical Educator, ward leadership and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will help ensure that staff at all levels are supported to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
You will contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of education programmes using a variety of methods, including bedside teaching, simulation, formal teaching sessions and coaching in clinical practice.
A key aspect of this role is maintaining strong clinical credibility. All post holders are expected to contribute approximately 20% of their working time to direct patient care, including taking charge of the unit when required. This ensures that education remains grounded in current practice and that you continue to demonstrate expert clinical skills within paediatric intensive care.
Main duties of the job
- To be a professional role model, co-ordinating education and/or practice development in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, supporting and deputising for the Clinical Educator in the clinical area as required.
- To provide expert evidence based clinical bedside teaching to all levels of nursing, allied health professionals and medical staff.
- Provide specialist nursing advice across WLCH to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients /clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.
- At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of education and care delivery.
- To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified across Children's Services.
- Act as a key link with other members of the in-service education and/or practice development team(s) and external education institutions as required.
