The Rheumatology service cares for over 5000 patients across 4 hospital sites, with over 2600 patients prescribed biologic therapy.
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Specialist Medicine Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The team provides clinical pharmacy services across several specialties within the Specialist Medicine directorates. In this role, you will be the lead pharmacist for rheumatology services.
As the successful candidate you will support the Biologics Review Clinics to ensure all these patients are regularly reviewed & treatment tailored to their requirements. A good understanding of the high cost drugs process is required as you will be expected to monitor & manage funding applications for these medicines within Rheumatology.
This is a really exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to work closely with rheumatology specialists in a fast moving area of practice to optimise patients' treatment.
Main duties of the job
- As the successful candidate, you will work closely with the senior lead pharmacist and wider team to deliver and develop a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting prescribing in rheumatology
- Providing support to the biologics review clinic
- Managing Homecare services and funding applications for high-cost medicines in rheumatology
- Monitoring and processing Homecare prescriptions
- Developing pharmacist clinics in rheumatology
- Managing & developing a band 7 pharmacist (also 0.5WTE rheumatology)
- Developing and reviewing medicine pathways
You will also gain valuable experience in:
- Financial reporting (e.g. biosimilar savings, CIP schemes)
- Guideline development and review
- Formulary and interface work
- We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You should be confident working with a wide range of healthcare professionals and comfortable using various IT systems and databases
Essential requirements:
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- A postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent experiential learning
- Independent Prescribing Qualification
