Senior Staff Nurse - Neonatal

You will have the opportunity to work within our two specialist neonatal units, The neonatal services sit within the wider maternity and neonatology service, we care for nearly 1,000 babies each year, providing life-saving support and expertise to some of the most vulnerable babies. We provide care for extremely pre-term babies (less than 27 weeks' gestation) at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital, the highest rate of extreme preterm infants in London, and more mature babies at SMH. We also treat newborn babies with complex medical needs.

We are seeking to appoint skilled and passionate nurses who are motivated and enthusiastic in neonatal nursing and promoting Family Integrated Care. We would ideally like applicants with leadership experience though this is not essential as full support, and training can be provided for senior band 5 nurses.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver safe, efficient, compassionate and excellent individualised nursing care for babies and their family.
  • To promote Integrated family delivered care within Neonatal services.
  • To reduce risk and maintain patient and staff safety; take lead in investigating clinical incidents and identify ways to improve practice.
  • To effectively communicate with family/carers, the multidisciplinary team and agencies outside the organisation.
  • To supervise, support and assess learning/development of junior staff, pre-registration nursing and midwifery students, nursing associates and nursery nurses.
  • To participate in research on the clinical floor.
